The entries to the 2006 Altitude County MPC Photo Competition have gone on display at Altitude on Ballybricken in Waterford City for the second year. This was an incredibly difficult competition to enter this year as the extremely wet and wild conditions on the event meant that photography proved very challenging and there were a few stories of cameras ending up in pools of water in rucksacks.  However the theme was “Adventure” and it certainly was an adventurous weekend which meant that those who did manage to get their cameras out of their rucksacks got quite a few good shots.

The Best photo by a Scout went to Cian O’hOgartaigh of the 3rd De La Salle Scout Troop with his “Christoph and Ali a.k.a. Ian Leigh Grant” shot which showed two Venturers right at the summit cross on Galtymore.  Meanwhile the Best Photo by a Leader/Venturer went to Aidan Ennis of the De La Salle Scout Group with his “Adventure Awaits…” which shows a young scout with a rucksack striking out across the Galty countryside.  Speaking after the judging, Eamon Barrett, proprietor of Altitude commented that the winning photos and the other images on display certainly summed up the battle against the elements which took place on the weekend while Colm Ennis, one of the CPMC Coordinators said that he would be guaranteeing perfect weather for the event in the Comeraghs in 2007.  The photos will be on display at Altitude up until Christmas and you should also check out our County MPC 2006 Gallery page which has a further selection of the photos entered into the competition.
