The Waterford and South Kilkenny Regional Soccer Blitz was held on Thursday the 21st of June at Connors Field in Poleberry. Nine teams took part in the event which was organised into two leagues and then a semi final and final. An amalgamated team from the 3rd and the 13th De La Salle met Sacred Heart in a nailbiting final which went to open goal penalties. Justin Reidy’s final score assured De La Salle of success. The team also had valuable additions in the form of Ciaran and Owen Kelly, members of two of the more junior sections in De La Salle. At the end of the event, the Regional Shield was presented by the Regional Commissioner, John Culbert to St. Pauls and in second place were the 3rd De La Salle. The blitz concluded the Regional programme for the year and the next event will be the Regional Mountain Pursuit Challenge which will be held from the 14th to the 16th of September in the Galtees.
