Scouting Ireland CSI has honoured Brother Finbarr O’Keeffe of the De La Salle Scout Unit with it’s highest honour – the Order of the Silver Wolfhound. Brother Finbarr was presented with the award by the Chief Scout, Mr. Peter Dixon at the Scouting Ireland CSI National Council which was held in Dundalk on the 14th of May. Brother Finbarr is the third member of the Unit to have been presented with the award, the previous recepients being Pat Murphy and Liam Butler.

The award was made in recognition of the outstanding contribution which Bro. Finbarr has made to the Unit since he became a part of it in 1964. As Unit Leader he heralded in many changes to the Unit including the establishment of the Macaoimh and the Venturers. He was also instrumental in the development of our current Scout den as well as our training centre and store at Faithlegg, Co. Waterford. His deft management of the Unit was added to by an active support for the programmes of all sections. The Unit is proud that this award has been made to a member who has contributed so much to both our development and our strength.
